Liposculture

Liposuction consists of removing localised excess fat. It must be combined with an appropriate diet supervised by a dietician.

Indications

Fat removal from thighs, hips, the abdomen or back

Before the intervention

We strongly recommend that patients stop smoking at least 30 days before the operation. If patients are taking aspirin or anti-inflammatories, they must stop taking this treatment at least 10 days before surgery.

During the intervention

Duration: 1 – 3 hours

  • Micro-incisions in the natural folds
  • The fat is sucked out through microcannula
  • The patient is bandaged and must wear compression garments

Patients experience quite significant pain after surgery. Swelling (oedema) and bruising will occur and, in some cases, a feeling of numbness. The compression garment must be worn at all times for a month.

Results

The pain disappears after 2 weeks and the results are visible within 6 months. You can resume normal activities very quickly (3 days for light work and 4 weeks for sports).

Abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty, or 'tummy tuck', aims to tighten the skin around the stomach, removing scars or stretch marks. Abdominal wall hernias can also be corrected and associated with liposuction for a better defined figure.

Indications

  • Loose and excess skin
  • Presence of scars or sub-navel stretch marks

Before the operation

The doctor carries out a pre-operative exam. An abdominal CT scan is done to assess the abdominal wall and exclude any weaknesses or underlying hernia requiring correction.
If patients are taking aspirin or anti-inflammatories, they must stop taking this treatment at least 10 days before surgery.

During the operation

Duration: 1.5 – 3 hours

  • A strip of skin is removed between the navel and the pubis.
  • The skin is redraped by pulling the skin downwards.
  • An incision is made in the tightened skin to reposition the navel.

Patients sometimes experience significant paint after abdominoplasty if the muscles have been tightened or in case of liposuction. Absorbable sutures are used and patients must wear a compression garment day and night for 4 weeks.

Results

To fully appreciate the results of the surgery, it is necessary to wait 3 to 6 months. During this time, the scar will be absorbed although it won’t disappear entirely.

Fat transfer

Lipostructure consists of taking fat from another part of the patient's body and injecting it into areas naturally lacking in volume, or as a result of injury, or to correct malformations.

Indications

  • Filling in certain facial wrinkles
  • Increasing the volume of the face and lips
  • Correcting tissue malformations
  • Correcting irregularities caused by liposuction
  • Improving an adherent scar

Before the intervention

In case of facial surgery in particular, a thorough analysis of the ageing process is carried out based on the patient’s face at present and on photos of when they were younger.
If patients are taking aspirin or anti-inflammatories, they must stop taking this treatment at least 10 days before surgery.

During the intervention

Duration: 1 – 2 hours

  • Locating the areas where fat will be removed and the transfer sites
  • Collecting fat from the skin’s natural folds
  • Separating the fat cells in a centrifuge
  • Injecting the fat with a 1 to 2 mm microcannula

Patients experience relatively mild pain after surgery. Some swelling (oedema) and bruising will occur. All these post-operative symptoms usually disappear within 2 to 3 weeks. Patients should avoid the sun for at least 4 weeks.

Results

To fully appreciate the results of the surgery, it is necessary to wait 4 to 6 months. Because the cells are living, they are still affected by the natural ageing process and the results vary from one patient to another. Therefore, the results fade over time but the procedure can be repeated after 6 months.

Arm lift

The purpose of brachioplasty is to reshape the upper arm.

Indications

Loose skin and excess fat. It is often associated with deep liposuction of the arm for a harmonised appearance.

Before the operation

If patients are taking aspirin or anti-inflammatories, they must stop taking this treatment at least 10 days before surgery.

During the operation

Duration: 1.5 hours

  • The incision is made in one of the folds in the armpit, extending down the inner part of the arm if necessary.
  • Excess skin is removed.

Results

To fully appreciate the results of the surgery, it is necessary to wait 6 to 12 months for the tissues to recover their suppleness. The scars are usually visible
