Nose

Rhinoplasty, or nose surgery, aims to correct the nose's morphology for aesthetic and/or functional reasons (breathing problems).

Indications

  • Cosmetic surgery: improvement or correction of the nose’s appearance for congenital reasons or as a result of ageing, or injury.
  • Functional surgery: nasal obstruction, deviated nasal septum.

Before the operation

The doctor examines the morphology of the nose and face in order to define a result adapted to the patient’s face and expectations. A CT scan of the facial bones and an ENT exam are performed in order to explore the functional aspect within the framework of the rhinoplasty.
A simulation is produced based on pre-operative photos to give an idea of the aesthetic result.
We strongly recommend that patients stop smoking at least 30 days before the operation. If patients are taking aspirin or anti-inflammatories, they must stop taking this treatment at least 10 days before surgery.

During the operation

Duration: 1 – 3.5 hours

  • The incisions are made in the nostrils or beneath the tip of the nose to hide the scars.
  • The skin is lifted to provide access to the bridge of the nose.
  • Very fine absorbable sutures are used.
  • A shaped bandage, plaster and splints are put in place.

Nose surgery doesn’t incur any real pain although there may be some discomfort caused by the splints. They eyelids are usually subject to swelling (oedema) and bruising. All these post-operative symptoms usually disappear quickly. The splints are usually removed the next day and the plaster around the sixth day.

Results

To fully appreciate the results of the surgery, it is necessary to wait 6 months to gain a good overview of the results. However, the final appearance will only be visible after 6 to 12 months.

Ears

Otoplasty, or ear surgery, aims to reshape protruding ears resulting from a malformation of the ear cartilage.
This surgery may performed on adults or children, from the age of 7.

Indications

  • Too great an angle between back of the concha and the side of the head.
  • Excessive conchal cartilage, forcing the ear to stick out.
  • Malformation of the antihelix cartilage, making the ear appear too smooth.

Before the operation

The doctor examines the ears in order to make a diagnosis and define the type of intervention required. Hair should be cut short or pulled back from the ears Both the patient’s head and hair must be thoroughly washed the evening before the operation.
If patients are taking aspirin or anti-inflammatories, they must stop taking this treatment at least 10 days before surgery.

During the operation

Duration: 1 – 1.5 hours

  • The incisions are made in the fold behind the ear.
  • The skin is lifted to gain access to the cartilage.
  • The cartilage is reshaped to improve the contours and the angle.

Patients will experience moderate pain after ear surgery that can be treated with painkillers. Some swelling (oedema) and bruising will occur. All these post-operative symptoms usually disappear quickly. A compression band must be worn for 2 weeks, then only at night for a few more weeks.

Results

To fully appreciate the results of the surgery, it is necessary to wait 1 to 2 months. During this time, the tissues will recover their suppleness and the scars will fade. The contours of the ear will then be visible.

Eyelids

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is performed on both women and men. By correcting defects due to age or genetic factors, surgery can improve a patient's look and facial expressions.

Indications

  • Upper eyelids: puffiness, drooping eyelids, excess skin
  • Lower eyelids: bags, drooping or wrinkles, loss of muscle tone

Before the operation

After a pre-operative eye exam, the surgeon examines the eyes and the eyelids to make a diagnosis and define the type of intervention required. Other interventions (lifting) may be recommended if necessary.
We strongly recommend that patients stop smoking at least 30 days before the operation.  If patients are taking aspirin or anti-inflammatories, they must stop taking this treatment at least 10 days before surgery.

During the operation

Duration: 45 mins to 2.5 hours

  • The incisions are done in such a way that the scars will be hidden in the natural folds of the skin.
  • Fat pockets, excess skin and muscle are removed.
  • The very fine thread used for the suture will be removed by the surgeon 3 to 7 days after the operation.

Eyelid surgery doesn’t really cause any pain, only some discomfort due to local tautness, irritation and blurred vision. Some swelling (oedema), bruising and tearing will occur. All these post-operative symptoms usually disappear quickly.

Results

Patients look more rested and more awake. To fully appreciate the results of the surgery, it is necessary to wait 3 to 6 months. During this time, the tissues will recover their suppleness and the scars will fade.

Lifting

The purpose of lifting is to treat the slack and sagging skin and muscles of the face and neck. The goal of the intervention isn't to modify the structure of the face but to correct the ageing process.

Indications

Sagging jaw line, improvement of features, correction of the appearance of jowls and slack soft tissue.
This intervention doesn’t correct expression lines or the aspect of the skin.

Before the operation

The doctor examines the patient in order to make a diagnosis and define the type of intervention required. Others interventions (blepharoplasty, botox, fat injections) may be recommended if necessary.
We strongly recommend that patients stop smoking at least 30 days before the operation. If patients are taking aspirin or anti-inflammatories, they must stop taking this treatment at least 10 days before surgery.

During the operation

Duration: 2 to 3 hours

  • The incisions are made in the hair and around the ear in order to hide the scars.
  • After the incision, the surgeon lifts the skin in order to tighten the muscles. The sagging is thus precisely corrected while preserving the face’s expression.
  • Liposuction or lipostructure are possible (removal or addition of fat) to harmonise the face’s contours.
  • The skin is redraped and the excess skin removed.

Swelling (oedema) may occur as a result of the surgery as well as bruising around the neck and chin. There may also be pain around the ears and neck. All these post-operative symptoms will generally disappear within 2 weeks, but numbness in the ears and cheeks will only fade after several months.

Results

Patients will have a more youthful and rested face while maintaining a natural appearance. To fully appreciate the results of the surgery, it is necessary to wait 1 to 6 months. During this time, the tissues will recover their suppleness and the scars will fade.

Botulinum toxin - Botox

Botulinum toxin (botox) is used to treat dynamic wrinkles, for a more youthful appearance and a relaxed and rested face, while preserving facial expressions. You will appear more radiant.

Indications

  • Crow’s feet, lion wrinkles, wrinkles on the forehead or nose.
  • Brow lift
  • Signs of ageing

Before the intervention

The surgeon checks there aren’t any contraindications concerning the products used (pregnancy, breastfeeding, allergic reactions, etc.).
If you are taking aspirin or anti-inflammatories, please stop taking this treatment at least 15 days before surgery.

During the intervention

Duration: 15 – 30 mins

The injections are done using very fine needles and are practically painless. Minor swelling (oedema) may appear but it is only temporary.

Results

The effects are visible after 5 – 10 days and remain for 5 – 6 months. Regular injections every 6 months maintain the treatment. Botox can be combined with hyaluronic acid for a more long-lasting and more natural result. Patients are advised to exercise the forehead muscles after the intervention to optimise the result.

Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid fills wrinkles and makes your skin radiant again. The result is immediate and you can continue your social activities without delay.

Indications

  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Pursed lips
  • Lack of volume
  • Signs of ageing

Before the intervention

The surgeon checks there aren’t any contraindications concerning the products used (previous injections, injection sites, allergic reactions, etc.).
If patients are taking aspirin or anti-inflammatories, they must stop taking this treatment at least 3 days before surgery.

During the intervention

Duration: 15 – 30 mins

The injection technique used varies according to the site, the desired result and the extent of the treatment. Redness, bruises and/or swelling (oedema) may occur but this is only temporary. Cold compresses can be applied to limit swelling. Patients should avoid the sun for at least 2 weeks.

Results

The results are visible immediately: the skin appears more youthful and defects are corrected. The effects last 3 to 9 months depending on the location, lifestyle and skin type.
