Lifting (mastopexy)

Mastopexy, or breast lift surgery, aims to reshape the breast by repositioning the areola, the mammary gland and/or removing excess skin.

Indications

  • Sagging breasts
  • Slack skin
  • Areola too low

Before the operation

If it is necessary to place implants, the size is established according to the patient’s wishes and morphology.
We strongly recommend that patients stop smoking at least 30 days before the operation.  If patients are taking aspirin or anti-inflammatories, they must stop taking this treatment at least 10 days before surgery.

During the operation

Duration: 2 – 3 hours

  • Depending on the extent of the sagging, several incisions will be made.
  • No thread is used for the suture and the scar is vertical.
  • At the end of the operation, a shaped bandage will be applied.

Post-operative pain is relatively mild after mastopexy, unless implants are placed in case of breast augmentation, and there will be some discomfort when changing position. Some temporary swelling (oedema) will occur.

A post-operative bra must be worn for 3 months, and day and night for the first month.

Results

To fully appreciate the results of the surgery, it is necessary to wait 12 months for well-shaped and symmetrical breasts.
